ADULT COMPETITION RULES AND REGISTRATION



Prizes: 1st - $2,000, 2nd - $1,250, 3rd - $750
$150 Non-Refundable Adult Registration Fee
Judges: Cecelia Siqueira, Fernando de Lima, Philip Manwell

• Open to guitarists ages 19 or older as of the first day of the
competition.

• Competition is for performance on six string Classical Guitar

• Free choice program for all rounds

• Time limits: Preliminary round - 7 minutes, Final Round - 15 minutes

• Choice of repertoire is entirely up to the performer. A competitor may perform the same or different music in all rounds without penalty. It is expected that every competitor's choice of music fits within the time allowed for each round. If a competitor exceeds the given time allotted, he or she will be asked to stop with no penalty to his or her evaluation.

• Competitors will be evaluated on technique, musicianship, and overall presentation. Four competitors will be chosen to compete in the final round.

• Competitors may inquire for comments by judges only after the competition has ended. Upon such requests, sharing comments with performers is at the sole discretion of the judges.

• All decisions of judges are final.

• Previous 1st Prize Awardees of the Sierra Nevada Classical Guitar Competition may not register for the 2017 Competition.

• Competitors may only compete in the division that corresponds with their age.

• Competitors should not be touring artists with major management. Admission to the competition is at the sole discretion of the Sierra Nevada Guitar Festival staff.

• Foreign competition winners are subject to 30% withholding of competition prize amount. US competition winners must be issued IRS-1099 forms.
